Our Story

Make a life-changing impact for a child.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are trained community members who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers are carefully screened and are well trained, receiving a minimum of 30 hours of initial training and completing 12 hours of continuing education each year. Once appointed to a case by a judge, CASA volunteers focus their efforts solely on gathering information and making recommendations to the court as to what is in the best interest of the child in terms of services, placement, visitation, reunification, and permanency. Because CASA volunteers only work 1 or 2 cases at a time, they have the time and capacity to gather more in-depth information that other parties may not have, especially now as social workers are severely understaffed and overworked. CASA volunteers are often the only constant a child knows as they move through the labyrinth of the child welfare system and they remain on the case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

The Kentucky CASA Network (KCN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, governed by a board of directors, that provides ongoing development, training, technical assistance, and resources to local CASA programs across the Commonwealth. Currently, the KCN is an association of 18 local programs that served 3,376 abused and neglected children in 2024. The KCN also advocates for the needs of CASA programs with industry stakeholders in Frankfort and throughout the state. Your donation today will help us to do the following on a statewide level:

  • Spread awareness about the CASA mission
  • Recruit more CASA volunteers to advocate for more children
  • Provide more training for local CASA program staff, directors, board members, and volunteers
  • Achieve our goal of bringing CASA services to all 120 Kentucky counties

Every dollar makes a difference. Take part in helping to change a child's story today.

Thank you for supporting the Kentucky CASA Network!
